The nation of Israel is an enigma to most people. No other nation in history has been under such intense and consistent persecution as Israel, and its city Jerusalem. Unfortunately, the underlying destructive threat of anti-Semitism thrives into our modern day and is experiencing a revival of major proportions as of late. I believe that over the next several years, the intoxicating effects of the hate for the nation of Israel will become overwhelming. This is fitting as many prophetic passages from the Bible signify that in the last days, Israel would gradually become the focal point of all of the nations of the world. Interestingly, the continuing crisis in Iraq and Iran has turned the world's attention towards this volatile region known as the Middle East.

Today, the Israeli state is under tremendous global pressure to stop defending itself from the onslaught of radical Muslims who deeply desire the destruction of the Jewish state. Only time will tell where everything is heading. But we know one thing for certain. The Righteous King of Israel, Jesus Christ, will soon bring his divine judgment upon this present world. He will make war with all nations and will install His own government once and for all. And those nations who have sought Israel's destruction will be even more severely judged. The plan of God cannot, and will not, be thwarted forever. It will come to pass exactly as it has been written.

The Psalmist encourages us today to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalms 122:6 KJV) Are you praying the peace of Jewish men, women, and children? As followers of the Israeli-born Messiah, let us cry out for the eternal peace of Israel that only its own true King can bring at His coming. We do well to appeal to the King of Heaven to protect His chosen nation and to remove the scales from the eyes of the Jewish people to the true identity of Jesus Christ as the one and only true Messiah.
